National Accountability Bureau, NAB is a federal bureau that enforces Pakistan's own laws in monitoring and prosecuting corruption, also it is responsible for investigating cases of corruption in public life. This government agency was created in 2000 to prevent corruption, it is a non-political body that reports directly to Pakistan’s President. NAB has been successful in bringing many corrupt politicians and public servants to justice. The NAB was established in 1985 as an autonomous organization, responsible for investigating corruption cases and recovering public money from those involved. This is a very important department in Pakistan because it helps to reduce corruption in the country. NAB is a government body, which is responsible for investigating cases of corruption in public life. It also enforces the law against corrupt practices and recoveries properties acquired through corrupt means.
NAB was established by an Act of Parliament in 2000. The Bureau reports to the President via the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). NAB has its headquarters in Islamabad with branches all over Pakistan. It is an independent organization and works without any interference or influence from any institution, political party or individual. The bureau has its own legal team and prosecution department which makes it independent of the federal government. -Fraud related to value for money issues, including procurement fraud; The NAB has the power to investigate, prosecute and punish corrupt officials. It also has the ability to recover stolen assets from those convicted of corruption-related crimes.
